A Brief History: “Celebration of the Goodness of God: A Celebration of a Generation”

Myanmar Christian Church (MCC) embarked on its journey on December 7, 1997, with a small group of individuals. As it celebrated its 25th anniversary, the congregation flourished to include approximately 400 members. This testament to growth and resilience is credited to the visionary leadership of Pastors Kham and Mary Khai, the founders of the church, with the invaluable support of Victory Christian Church (VCC) for nearly two decades until MCC achieved independence. In 2016, by the grace of God, MCC acquired a 10 Gym-Fitness Center, which now serves as its dedicated church building.

In pursuit of its mission, a Bible college was established in Myanmar in 2004, graduating about 100 individuals who have since devoted themselves to full-time service as pastors, teachers, and missionaries throughout various regions of Myanmar. MCC’s impact extends to eight missionary fields. Notably, in 2018, Oral Roberts University (ORU) entered into an Articulation Agreement, endorsing the acceptance of 99 credit hours from Southeast Bible College, a commitment that was reaffirmed in 2021. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also established between ORU and MCC in 2020. During the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, MCC extended support to over 40 villages, contributing over $10,000 to aid the hometowns of its church members. Specific contributions include the purchase of a water tank for the hospital in Tedim and a $1,000 donation towards the construction of an Oxygen plant in Kalemyo. In response to the Lord’s directive to “comfort my people,” Pastor Khai orchestrated the distribution of pork to each member’s house through the purchase of two large pigs. Faced with Myanmar’s critical circumstances, MCC initiated Forerunner Mission Training online in early 2022, culminating in its first graduation ceremony on December 3, 2022, under the auspices of Tulsa International College.

The church commitment to spreading the Gospel took an innovative turn through a soccer tournament, embodying the motto “For the Game, For the Gospel.” This annual event draws over 5,000 attendees, offering an opportunity for players and sports enthusiasts to encounter the Gospel for the first time. The tournament also serves as a unifying platform for Myanmar Americans from across the United States, fostering cultural exchange through shared meals and fellowship. Reflecting on the manifold blessings bestowed upon the church, it anticipates witnessing the great and mighty works of the Lord for His glory in the future. The journey thus far serves as a testament to His providence and the collective efforts within the community.
