The Need of a Church

Pastor Sharon Daugherty, Founding Pastor, Victory Christian Center

I firmly believe that this church holds fundamental significance in the present era. When reflecting on the years 2020 and 2021, marked by government decisions to shut down numerous institutions, including churches, some congregations discerned the gravity of the situation. This prompted me to revisit the Bible, particularly Hebrews 10:25 trom a

modern translation, which advises, “Don’t stop gathering together like other believers have been doing.” The reason? To continue encouraging one another, especially as we witness the imminent return of the Lord. Do you share the belief that Jesus is returning soon? I certainly of expectancy. do, fostering that sense

In a world that challenges the truth of the Word of God, asserting that there is no absolute truth, we witness the Bible fulfilling prophecies at an unprecedented rate. Archaeologists uncover artifacts dating back thousands of years, affirming the authenticity of the Bible’s stories. Notably, NASA scientists, in their quest to understand time loss, found biblical accounts aligning with their findings. The Scriptures stand the test of time, debunking the misconception that the world is flat by declaring its roundness, a truth later confirmed by science. The nation of Israel, dispersed across the globe, returning to its homeland, serves as living proof of the Bible’s veracity.

The church, defined as the body of believers, becomes a vital source of strength for each member. Hence, the need for a church. In Greek, the term “church” is an “ecclesia,” a gathering with a purpose that calls out to the world. As Jesus declared, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it” (Matthew 16:18). Currently, the world is veiled in a spirit of darkness, and it is our duty to pray fervently for the defeat of demonic forces ruling this realm.

Psalm 103:20 affirms that God’s angels excel in strength and respond to the prayers of spirit-filled believers.

Cultural demons subtly manipulate people today, requiring us to be vigilant in combatting their influence through prayer. Christ calls us to follow in His footsteps by immersing ourselves in the Word of God, guarded by the Holy Spirit, who reveals all truth. Understanding our enemy is crucial, akin to the unity within a worship team or a baseball team. In the ministry of the church, we rely on each other’s strengths and learn from one another. Let us unite in prayerful surrender to Jesus, seeking His blessings upon us all. Amen!
