Many Blessings to Count

Pastor Kham Khai, MCC Founding Pastor

Our heartfelt gratitude stems from the profound love God has showered upon us and the cherished church members who hold God and us dearly in their hearts. There is nothing more precious on this earth than these relationships! What an incredible blessing, a source of great joy, and a privilege for my wife, Mary, and me to celebrate both our Church Silver Jubilee and our Marriage Silver Jubilee together!

“since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…” (Heb. 12:1).

Thank you all for the precious prayers you have offered on our behalf! I fondly recall many of them, and Praise the Lord. Reflecting on the last 25 years of our marriage, I find it impossible to count the blessings God has bestowed upon us. When the Church family gathers to thank the Lord together, it holds an unmatched significance for us. The more we express our gratitude to the Lord, the more joys He showers upon us.

There are two types of people on this earth: the joyful person with a heart of gratitude and the grudging person with a heart of anger. It is indeed more blessed to be the one who consistently thanks God and blesses the LORD. Let us remember the parable of the one who received one talent but failed to gain more and instead complained.

God has a purpose for each one of us, and I would like to share three significant incidents in my life where the Lord delivered me from harm and danger. The first occurred at the age of seven while tending to cows with my grandmother in the jungle. The Lord delivered us when we were lost in the middle of the night, surrounded by ravaging animals.

The second incident took place during a Mission trip to Mindat, the Southern Chin State of Myanmar, in 1984. The savage Dai, a half-naked and barbaric tribe known for killing missionaries, knew my route to their village and awaited my arrival. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I was delayed, and I miraculously escaped!

The third incident unfolded while I was preaching in Chaukyo village. Villagers who opposed Christians were determined to kill me, warning me to stop preaching the Gospel. In my vision, saw myself beheaded and blood-stained. I prayed to God, expressing my willingness to lay down my life for the Gospel. Shortly after my prayer, the village chief intervened, snatching those who sought to harm me, and I escaped! Praise the Lord.

When I contemplated these things, I was assured that God wanted me all preach the Gospel, and I pressed on toward the goal. Therefore, “let us all run with perseverance the race marked out for us and fixed our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 13:1-2 NIV). Amen!
