Many Blessings to Count
Pastor Kham Khai, MCC Founder Pastor
Our utmost thanksgiving is knowing that God loves us so profoundly, and the church members who love God and love us so dearly are our portion. There is none more precious than these on earth! What a blessing, a great joy, and a privilege for my wife Mary and I to celebrate our Church Silver Jubilee and our Marriage Silver Jubilee together! “…since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…” (Heb.12:1).
Thank you all for your precious prayers for us! I recalled many of them, Praise the Lord! Reflecting on the last 25 years of our marriage, I cannot count God’s blessings on us! When the Church family thanks the Lord in the Church as a family, it is much more than anything else to us. The more we bless the Lord, the more joys He bestowed upon us.
There are two types of people on this earth: a joyful person with a heart of gratitude and a grudging person with a heart of anger. It is more blessed to be the one who always thanks God and blesses the LORD. Remember the one who received one talent and didn’t gain talent but complained about it.
God has a purpose for every one of us. I want to share three significant incidents in my life where the Lord delivered me from harm and danger. One was at the age of seven when I was raising cows with my grandmother in the jungle, where the Lord delivered us when we were lost in the middle of the night from the ravaged animals!
The other incident was when I went to Mindat, the Southern Chin State of Myanmar, on a Mission trip in 1984. The savage Dai, who were the half-naked and barbaric tribe known for killing many missionaries in their region, knew my route to their village and waited for me to be killed. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I was delayed, and I escaped!
Another incident happened when I was preaching in Chaukyo village. The villagers who opposed the Christians were trying to kill me. They warned me by saying that they would kill me if I continued to preach the Gospel there. In my vision, I saw that I was beheaded, and there was blood-stained. And I prayed to God, “If you want me to preach the Gospel more, please keep away from these people, but if you want me to die because of the Gospel, I am ready to lay down my life for you, Lord. There is no way to escape from these culprits.” Soon after my prayer, the village chief came and snatched these people, and I escaped! Praise the Lord!
When I contemplated these things, I was assured that God wanted me to preach the Gospel, and I pressed on toward the goal. Therefore, “let us all run with perseverance the race marked out for us and fixed our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 13:1-2 NIV). Amen!
